Our Background

Nisookamig was inspired and established from a variety of backgrounds and versatile experiences of both Ojibwe language learning and teaching to create representation for tribal community learners in the northern Minnesota region. Our team comes equipped with years of experience working in community education, public and immersion schools, and Ojibwe language settings. By pooling our collective backgrounds of assisting our community, paired with donations and grant funding, Nisookamig offers free services and support for Ojibwe language learners, to normalize our language being spoken in every day spaces once again.
